Got this Lian-li PC-60 mobo tray from a mod supplier online. No doubt that is one of the best ones you can get but it has a lot of unwanted real estate up top that won't really do me a lot of good so *sound of jigsaw firing up*.
Drilled out all the rivets and removed the back panel..
Using the original plate as a template, I traced out on my aluminum the window shape. Cut out the rough shape with the jigsaw and a toothy metal blade. Followed up with a straight file to get the edges straight and clean and a rounded file for the corners. I then clamped the two together and put it on the drill press to act as a guide for the drill holes. This proved invaluable since the hole alignment is critical when trying to press through the replacement rivets. Those of you who have done something similar know what I'm talking about.
All finished, trimmed almost 2" off the top, that makes a lot of difference.
Set the back panel components in to get an idea of the dimensions of the walls.
